Georgie Benardete

Ms. Benardete is a Managing Director of Multicultural Capital, LLC. Her responsibilities center around the sourcing of renewable energy deals and sources of finance, with a particular emphasis on Latin America, and the Middle East.

Ms. Benardete started her career as a banker at JP Morgan in New York, working in the Investment Banking Latin American Group executing M&A and Capital Markets deals in diverse industries. Previously she was a consultant at Coopers & Lybrand in Virginia and Buenos Aires, a graduate intern at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation in Washington, DC, and a summer intern at the US Congress with Rep. Jose Serrano (NY).

An international catalyst climate change solutions, she was selected to be part of The Climate Project where she was trained personally by its founder, Nobel Prize winner and former US Vice-President Al Gore, and handed with the task of raising awareness about climate change around the world.

This commitment has taken Ms. Benardete to be an investor and developer of a 20MW solar renewable energy project in Turkey, and founder of Turkey’s green online portal,Yesilist.com. She has advised international companies on their sustainability practices and is a Senior Advisor and founding member of Charly Alberti’s (Soda Stereo) Latin American climate change NGO, R21.

Georgie is a Woodrow Wilson Foundation Fellow and was recently chosen as a European Fellow of the Leadership in Environment and Development (LEAD) organization in the UK. She has a MSFS with Honors from Georgetown University, a BA from the University of Puerto Rico, and attended competitive summer and semester programs in Carnegie Mellon University and American University respectively.

A proactive life-long learner, she has advanced her education by participating in climate change training courses at Schummacher College in the UK under Tony Juniper and renewable energy trainings at the University of Aberystwyth (Wales) and at the Renewables Academy (Berlin).

Georgie is fluent in Spanish and English, with conversational Turkish. 

She grew up in Chile, Mexico, Argentina and Puerto Rico thanks to her academic parents. Her wanderlust took her later in life to stays in Washington DC, New York City, Istanbul and London. She is now back in Puerto Rico with her husband Jak Benardete, a fashion entrepreneur and investor in new media, and their son Lucas who is loving the beach and his cousins.
